EPPS Career Workshop Planned for September 12
Come meet a representative from the U.S. Department of Labor and learn strategies for navigating the upcoming UT Dallas Fall Career Expo at a career workshop designed especially for EPPS students and alumni.
EPPS Expo Workshop 2.0
Wednesday, September 12
2:00 - 3:30pm
“In the past, students and alumni have told us that they often feel overwhelmed when they get to the Expo and see the large number of employers represented there,” said Karen Baynham, Associate Director of Career Programs in the UT Dallas Career Center. “This workshop is designed to help attendees feel more confident about talking to employers and know what to expect once they arrive.”
Career Center staff and the employer representative will be on hand to offer students and graduates tips on how to succeed at the Expo. Among the topics:
- How to access Expo information in Careerworks
- How to dress for the expo.
- How to network.
- How to update your resume.
- How to introduce yourself to potential employers.
“We’ll also be sharing information on the latest recruiting trends,” said Baynham. “For example, many employers have now gone ‘paperless’ and are no longer taking resumes at the Expo. We still tell students/alums to bring resumes to the event, but by knowing what to possibly expect from some employers, student can react more confidently.”
