UT Dallas to Host Annual GIS Day Event
UT Dallas will celebrate its fourth annual GIS Day on Nov. 20 in the new Edith O'Donnell Arts and Technology Building — Main Hall, and showcase its own geospatial information sciences programs at the event.
Following the theme of "Discovering the World through GIS," the event will provide students with a chance to learn more about the programs and the opportunities they offer.
The event will start at 8am and running until 5pm. Students will listen to guest speakers, network with GIS professionals, browse an industry showcase of cutting-edge GIS technology, and more.
The day, which is celebrated by GIS scholars and practitioners worldwide, was inaugurated in 1999. Event organizers across the globe consider GIS Day to be an ideal time to tout the benefits of GIS, aid in discovery of opportunities in the field, and promote awareness of GIS among the general public.
UT Dallas in particular has a wealth of opportunities available to students interested in GIS. EPPS offers a minor, bachelor's degree, master's degree, and PhD in GIS as well as graduate certification in three GIS-related fields.
