Euel Elliott is Associate Dean for Academic Programs in the School of Economic, Political, and Policy Sciences (formerly School of Social Sciences), where he has responsibility for undergraduate and graduate program issues.
Prior to taking the position in May of 2005 he was Associate Dean for Graduate Education (2003-05) and Director of Graduate Studies (1998-2003). He also served as Master of Public Affairs (MPA) program head from 1996-98.
Dr. Elliott received his undergraduate degree in Economics and Political Science from Virginia Tech in 1973, and a Masters in Political Science in 1982. His Ph.D. was earned at Duke University in 1987. Prior to coming to UTD in 1991, he taught at Virginia Tech, The University of Oklahoma, and the University of Georgia.
Dr. Elliott’s major research interests include U.S. public policy, political institutions, and applications of complex systems theory to understanding a range of political and social phenomena.
He has published in a number of journals including Social Science Quarterly, Policy Studies Review, British Journal of Political Science, Journal of Policy Modeling and others. He is also the author or co-author of five books including Chaos Theory in the Social Sciences: Foundations and Applications (1996) with L. Douglas Kiel; the most recent book, entitled Money, (with Mark Dobeck) is forthcoming from Greenwood Press (December 2006).
Another book project, entitled Market Futures, with Mark Dobeck is in the early stages and will examine recent developments in financial and other markets and the interplay between markets and technology.
