Alicia Schortgen earned her Ph.D. in Public Affairs from the University of Texas at Dallas. Dr. Schortgen also holds a Master of Public Affairs from UTD and a B.S. in Political Science from Texas A&M University. Alicia’s research interests include philanthropic behavior, intersectoral relationships, the history of nonprofit organizations in America, nonprofit accountability and outcome measurement, and leadership and executive behavior in government.
Dr. Schortgen has extensive experience in the nonprofit sector. She served as Director of Resource Development for a large urban United Way before being appointed Executive Director of an environmental upstart organization. In addition to her time as a nonprofit professional, Alicia has volunteered in various capacities for a diverse group of charitable organizations.
