UT Dallas Degree: BS - Economics and Finance
Profession: Owner, Coffee House Cafe

My Work

As the owner of a restaurant, I balance my time between the financial management and personnel management of the café. Before I opened the Coffee House Café, I graduated from UT Dallas as the Outstanding Economics Student of the Year and went on to receive my master’s degree in communications from Seton Hall University. I’ve held various management positions in both the private and public sector and have served as an adjunct professor with UT Dallas.

The Value of My Degree

My degree was invaluable in the way it prepared me to conduct research. Economics gives you a good understanding of the multivariate world we live in. Because of UT Dallas, I dovetailed my work into positions that capitalized on the importance of research. From employee management to market conditions, the research/analytical element of the economics program continues to benefit my work literally every day.

My EPPS Success

I attribute my success to my love for the smaller classes at UT Dallas and the engagement of the professors. I transferred from a larger university back to UT Dallas where I felt I could engage more directly with the amazingness of the economics department faculty.

Advice for EPPS Students

Engage fully. You can’t live tomorrow today. Focus on each class and notice what makes you get excited about the material because it is an indication of your natural strength and talent. There is no better place to discover yourself, in my opinion, than on the UT Dallas campus.

Other Interests

I love spending time with my two darling children. They light my path and I am grateful for them every day.
