Deciding on Criminology

I began to be interested in criminology early in my academic career during my undergraduate studies. Upon graduating, I worked as an Adult Probation Officer for Denton County. After four years of invaluable experience, I felt that I needed a new challenge and directed my focus on furthering my education and career.

My EPPS Success

The faculty members and my fellow students have contributed to my success in EPPS. Whenever I have a question or need direction, I know that there are plenty of open doors and people willing to offer advice. There is a sense of community in EPPS that has made it such an incredible experience.

Plans for the Future

My current focus is making sure I continue my positive experience in the program and finish successfully. After graduation, I hope to obtain a job teaching at a university or conducting research for a government agency.

Advice to Prospective EPPS Students

My biggest piece of advice for prospective students is not to be afraid to ask questions or get involved. As an undergraduate I was hesitant to approach faculty and other students. Becoming an involved student has significantly contributed to my positive experience in EPPS.

Other Interests

In my free time I love to be with friends and family, practice yoga, go to music festivals, watch football, try new restaurants, and read anything that is not required on a syllabus.
