My Work

After working as an attorney for many years, I recently started my own practice.

Honors/accolades, additional degrees received, and/or previous work/positions held

I've worked for Weil, Gotshal & Manges, LLP, Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program, and at League of United Latin American Citizens Civil Rights Commission, where I worked as a Pro Bono Civil Rights Attorney as part of Weil, Gotshal & Manges' Public Service Deferral Program. Also, while at UTD, I competed in many oral advocacy competitions and placed first in four including the 2006 Prestage Woods Negotiations Competition, the 2007 Neal Speedon 1L Moot Court Competition, the 2007 Client- Counselling Competition, and the 2008 Henry Doyle 2L/3L Moot Court Competition.

The Value of My Degree

The top two skills I learned from UTD that I use today are preparation and thinking on my feet. Specifically competing in moot court with UTD, we had to know the case law backwards and forwards and needed to be able to quickly and succinctly answer the appellate judges' questions. Preparation is absolutely critical. The same two skills apply whenever I argue a motion before the court. As an attorney, one needs to be ready for any potential questions from the Court.

My EPPS Success

I am a litigator and love to be in court. I usually go to court several times a week to argue at hearings. Prior to starting my own practice, I worked for years as an attorney in the Complex Commercial Litigation group of a top international law firm that was consistently ranked in the top ten firms in the country. I learned so much from the partners and my colleagues at the firm and am grateful for the experience I gained working on complex, multi-million and multi-billion dollar matters. Today, I represent individuals and businesses primarily in civil litigation in a variety of cases from employment discrimination, to breach of contract, to wrongful death. We, as attorneys, have the ability to change someone's life with our law license, and I feel honored to have that privilege.
