Language Requirement for the IPE Programs
There are multiple options to meet the two-year college level coursework or equivalent requirement (C or better). Please note that meeting the language requirement is not the same as receiving 12 hours of credit at the University of Texas at Dallas. The University Rules on credit by examination must be meet.
- Take two years of a single language at UTD or at another Institution and earn a C or better.
- Take the CLEP exam and meet or exceed the following scores:

- German Language (58 or higher)
- Spanish Language (58 or higher)
The listed passing scores are only relevant to exams taken after September 1, 2001. (Check the Office of Undergraduate Education's CLEP page for up to date policies and score requirements.)

To schedule it, see this registration page on the CollegeBoard website. Follow the directions for students whose school does not offer the AP exam.

- Complete the equivalent of a U.S. high school diploma or U.S. baccalaureate degree where this language was the medium of instruction (documentation will be required). College level work done in a foreign language will also be considered with proper documentation.
Students are encouraged to explore study abroad options through UTD. See the UTD Office of International Education. See their page for more information about exchange programs, or contact them by telephone at (972) 883-4715.
