Alumni
Welcome to PPPE! Our nationally recognized, interdisciplinary program offers training opportunities for undergraduate, masters, and doctoral students from internationally renowned faculty. We offer two undergraduate degrees (BA/BS in International Political Economy), two master's degrees (MS in International Political Economy and the Master of Public Policy) and a PhD in Public Policy and Political Economy. We prepare our students for research, teaching, and practitioner positions in academic, government and industry. Our degrees offer internships, critical analysis and communication skills that will help students succeed, regardless of constant changes in the political and economic world. Read about our current students.
Faculty include nationally and internationally known scholars such as Dr. Brian J. L. Berry, 2005 winner of the Vautrin Lud Prize, who is famous for his work with spatial analysis and urban theory. He was also awarded the Victoria Medal from the Britain's Royal Geographical Society, was elected a Fellow in the British Academy in 1989 and, in 1975, became the youngest social scientist ever elected to the National Academy of Sciences. He is the author of more than 500 books, articles and other professional publications. Others, like Lloyd J. Dumas, a Ford Foundation funded scholar, have addressed the United Nations and testified at city, state and federal government hearings. Several scholars have been noted for their excellence in teaching. Dr. Jennifer Holmes and Dr. Sheila Amin Gutierrez de Pineres were awarded the UT system Regents' Outstanding Teaching Awards. These are just a few of our valued colleagues and a mere introduction to their scholarly achievements.
With more than a half a million employees retiring from the government in the next five years, global components playing a larger role in business and non-profits seeking people with a broad perspective, our degrees will make you highly competitive in today's workforce.
