Juan González , Ph.D. School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics
Professor of Molecular & Cell Biology
Dr. González’s research focuses on the molecular genetics of host-microbe interactions. He studies the ability that bacteria have to communicate with one another and coordinate their interactions with plant or animal hosts.
These molecular “conversations,” which involve the production of specific chemical signal molecules, play a critical role during the process of bacterial attachment, invasion and colonization. González’s research could lead to more efficient ways to control bacterial invasion and proliferation.
He received his Ph.D. in microbiology and molecular genetics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
