Professor of Chinese and Comparative Literature
Dr. Gu is the director of the Confucius Institute at UT Dallas and a professor of Chinese and comparative literature.
He is the author of two books, Chinese Theories of Fiction: A Non-Western Narrative System, and Chinese Theories of Reading and Writing: A Route to Hermeneutics and Open Poetics.
Gu, a recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship, has published numerous articles on Chinese literature and intellectual thought, and on the differences in literary forms among various cultures. He received his Ph.D. in Chinese and comparative literature from the University of Chicago.
