Anvar Zakhidov, Ph.D. School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics
Professor of Physics and Deputy Director of the NanoTech Institute
Dr. Zakhidov co-founded the NanoTech Institute, for which he is Deputy Director.
He was awarded the prestigious Kapitza Medal by the Russian Academy of National Sciences. The Academy recognized his work in nanotechnology, including his efforts to identify properties of advanced nanomaterials and to develop new and innovative solar cells based on his cutting-edge research.
A former senior principal scientist at Honeywell, Zakhidov continues to study carbon nanotubes, photonic crystals and other sophisticated aspects of nanoresearch with an eye toward designing and creating new electronic and photonic devices.
He received his Ph.D. in physics from the Institute of Spectroscopy at the USSR Academy of Sciences in Moscow.
