With flexible displays, electronics could be embedded in clothing, laptops could have roll-out screens for large viewing of maps and Web pages, and e-paper made of thin polymers could augment paper printing.
A nuclear chemist with a specialty in materials science, he has more than 70 patents to his name.
Gnade spent 14 years at Texas Instruments. He received his Ph.D. in nuclear chemistry from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
