Assistant Professor in Arts and Technology: Virtual Environments & Online Worlds

The School of Arts and Humanities at The University of Texas at Dallas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Arts and Technology (ATEC), with a focus on Virtual Environments and Online Worlds. We invite applications from scholars and artists working in such areas as synthetic worlds, virtual environments, and online multi-participant games.  Knowledge of a variety of production practices in the creation of virtual environments is preferred.  An interest in emerging 3D worlds and the opportunities for research, education, and cultural, and creative expression is highly desirable. An interest in the intersection of online worlds and the Internet, where interactions are not necessarily game based, is also desirable.  Ph.D. or M.F.A. in appropriate field required. 

Appointment begins September 1, 2008.  The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to research, publishing, undergraduate and graduate teaching, and participation in interdisciplinary education and research projects.
