Supporting Your Student Through Finals

As the fall semester is coming to a close, your student is beginning to immerse themselves in preparation for final exams. Your student’s finals might include a research paper, a group or individual project or a comprehensive exam. The Student Success Center offers a variety of ways to help students prepare for finals, including a writing center, math lab, supplemental instruction and success coaches to provide advice about learning strategies. You can help your student through finals with the following tips:
- Let them know you are proud of them.
- Encourage them with a card, phone call or care package.
- Try to give your student space before finals to allow them to focus on bringing their semester to a close.
- Talk with them before making holiday travel plans. Some students might want a day to relax instead of hopping on a plane or traveling right after their last exam.
