Sibling Relationships in College
When one family member heads to college, the change in family dynamics, daily routines and responsibilities will require an extra adjustment period for the entire family, including younger siblings left at home.
The time apart can help siblings bond as they learn to appreciate each other and the time they spend together. College students should be encouraged to stay in touch with their siblings through phone calls, Skype, social media or mailing packages to each other. When your college student visits home, make sure they are able to have one-on-one time with their siblings to catch up on all the changes that they and their siblings have experienced during their time apart.
