Since 1996, the Galerstein Women’s Center has been a welcoming place where all UT Dallas faculty, staff and students can find resources and support through lectures, workshops, counseling, scholarships and more. Named after the University’s first female dean, Dr. Carolyn Lipshy Galerstein, the center offers mentoring, advising and professional counseling, equitable policy review and climate assessment, lectures and events addressing gender diversity and social justice, leadership development, community engagement, advocacy for the LGBT+ community and development of child care resources.
Located in the Student Services Building in Room 4.300, the center includes meeting and study space and a lending library. It offers professional counseling services, diversity scholarships, internships, volunteer opportunities and organizational advising.
The center hosts numerous events and activities throughout the spring and fall semesters. On Tuesday, May 9, staff at the center will celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of LGBT+ and ally students with the annual Lavender Graduation Celebration. The event is open to students graduating in 2017.
