Getting Started
In order to use ePrint, you simply need an account on FRS, an appropriate Internet browser, and a free copy of Adobe® Reader.
Acrobat® Reader is a helper application that enables your browser to view, navigate and print documents in the Adobe® Portable Document Format (PDF). Chances are, you already have Acrobat® Reader installed on your computer. If not, you can get the latest version at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html.
Simply follow the links to download this application to your computer. (Note that you do not need to download Adobe® Acrobat®, which is an application for creating PDF documents. Acrobat® is not a free application).
After the file is downloaded, launch (double-click) the self-extracting file and follow the "wizard" to install the application. Whenever your browser encounters a PDF document, it will automatically start Acrobat® Reader. The reports you will be viewing through ePrint will most likely be PDF documents, which will be displayed within the viewing area of your browser. (Arobat® Reader also can be run in a stand-alone capacity).
To get your ePrint reports, you need to go to UTD's ePrint log in page by typing EPRINT on your browser's address bar.
Login With Your User ID and Password
Logging into ePrint is similar to logging into FRS. Simply key in your FRS userID and password at the prompts. If the cursor is not already in the "User ID" field, just click inside the field to insert the cursor before you start typing. Then you can tab to the other two fields.
Type carefully! If you repeatedly attempt to log in with the wrong password, your account will be "locked". In order to obtain access to ePrint again, you must contact your system administrator and request that your account be unlocked.
Select a Repository
Select an appropriate repository from the drop-down list provided. The repositories for UT Dallas were defined during system setup. A repository is a set of reports, along with security data and other rules that will enable e~Print to access the data you'll need. Once you select a repository, you will not be able to change it unless you log out of the system and log in again. Select the Enter button after you have keyed in and selected the appropriate information. The highest level report selection page for the repository you selected will appear.
Select a Report
ePrint enables you to select a report quickly and easily, based on your requirements. Selecting a report can entail a multi-step process or a single click.
When selecting an ePrint report, you simply "drill down", or keep selecting options, until you reach the required report content. The diagram below illustrates the report selection process.
As you can see, there are three possible ways in which to retrieve a report:
- You can view/print the latest version of a report, or
- You can view/print a specific version (instance) of a report, or
- If the report is sorted with at least one page key, you can use a page key to target the data to be included in the report.
Viewing and Printing a Report
After you've made your report selections and the PDF file is downloaded, Acrobat® Reader will open (typically within the viewing area of your browser window), and the report will be displayed within that application. Using Acrobat® Reader, you can print all or selected pages of a report. You also may save it on your computer as a PDF file, and add your own bookmarks for future reference.
Logging Out
You can log out of ePrint at any point (from any page). Simply click the Logout link in the top, right-hand corner of the page. The system will return you to the Login page, and will display a verification message. At that point, you may log in again and select a different repository.
If you do not log out before you leave the ePrint pages, the system will automatically log you out when you exit the browser. For security reasons, you should log out of ePrint if your browser will remain open and you will be leaving your computer unattended.
NOTE: In order to log out after viewing a PDF file within your browser, first you must click the Back button in your browser to return to an ePrint report selection page. Then you can click the Logout link, as described above.
