Location

Situated in suburban Richardson, Texas, near Dallas and Fort Worth, UT Dallas offers two affordable options for freshmen who want to live and play within walking distance of classes and campus activities.

UT Dallas offers a small-town feel in a growing metropolitan area. There are grocery stores, shopping malls and restaurants, many within walking distance and all within a six-mile radius of campus.

Getting Around
UT Dallas students are eligible for free transit passes from Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) which also give access to the Trinity Railway Express and Fort Worth’s "T" bus system. In addition, two full-size buses known as Comet Cruisers provide shuttle service to the surrounding community, including nearby shopping centers and restaurants.

There are also two major airports. Located between Dallas and Fort Worth, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is the largest in the state. Love Field airport is located near downtown Dallas.

Richardson
The University is located in Richardson, about 10 miles north of downtown Dallas. In 2006, the city was named the 15th best place to live in the United States by Money magazine.

Richardson has a renowned orchestra and a thriving arts and cultural community. Its already acclaimed public schools rose in state rankings in 2007. It is home to an area known as the Telecom Corridor, which is a large business center that includes offices for about 5,700 companies, including technology corporations such as Nortel, Ericsson, Alcatel-Lucent, Texas Instruments and AT&T.

Dallas
With diverse restaurants, shopping, live music, the Nasher Sculpture Garden and the Dallas Museum of Art, concerts, nightlife and big-name athletic teams like the Cowboys, the Mavericks and the Stars, Dallas offers diversion and refreshment from academic life. Through the Thomsen Endowment, UT Dallas routinely buys tickets for the Dallas Symphony, Dallas Opera, Dallas Theater Center, TITAS Music and Dance Series, The Living Opera, and events at Richardson's Charles W. Eisemann Center and makes them available to students.

Fort Worth
Fort Worth features the historic Stockyards, a thriving cultural district that includes world-class art museums, a science and history museum, museums commemorating the American Cowgirl and the American Cattleman, horse and rodeo events, live theater, a bustling downtown area, the Texas Motor Speedway and more.
