Galaxy for Students

What is Galaxy?

Galaxy is a new intranet built in response to requests from the students, faculty and staff for a more user-friendly interface to the most used information systems. Galaxy was introduced to the campus in August, 2007 by Information Resources and Web Services.

One Sign-In

Use your NetID and password to access e-mail, WebCT, and Student Information System (SIS), all at once.

Replaced Campus Pipeline

Galaxy replaced Pipeline with a better e-mail system that includes:

  • More storage space
  • Fewer service interruptions
  • Friendlier interface
  • Access to shared folders, such as "students@utdallas.edu" and major-specific e-mail lists

Other e-mail clients, such as Outlook, Google Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, MSN Mail, AOL Mail, Pine, and Mulberry, may continue to be used without interruption. Your auto-forwarding settings will not be disturbed.

Social Security Number No Longer Required

Out of concern for your privacy, UTD created the ability to login to Student Information System (SIS) to register, get your grades and class schedule using your NetID and password.

This means no more hassling with PINs or giving out your Social Security number online.

WebCT Upgrade

UTD released a new version of WebCT that is more user friendly, more reliable and more flexible. Within Galaxy, your course home pages are one click away with no second sign-in required.

Campus at a Click

A number of UTD departments are collaborating to provide announcements, deadlines, notices, etc. in a customizeable format similar to My Yahoo!, My MSN, or Google Personalized Home.

  • Money Matters
  • Comet Sports
  • The President's Viewpoint
