Two weeks after the launch of Gemini, the various project teams continue to roll out new functionality while simultaneously solving the challenges the launch of such a fundamentally new system.
Below is a list of the functionality that is currently available in the Gemini systems:
In addition to the above systems, training continues to expand, with new offerings of Online Time Reporting courses. Also, we are continually adding to the list of Frequently Asked Questions page on this site. With more than 25 questions, it is a great first stop for answers.
The new eProcurement system rolled out this morning. This new system becomes our “one stop” shop for UT Dallas purchasing activity. All requisitions and purchase orders for goods and services (with the exception of Purchasing Card & SOS Program activity) will be electronically created, approved and processed via eProcurement. This purchasing system is a software application that is integrated with the PeopleSoft HCM/Finance System.
All employees on main campus will have access beginning today, Monday, February 28. Callier, Center for BrainHealth and Center for Vital Longevity will follow on 03/15/2011.
The Procurement management team, along with the Gemini Project team have put in countless hours of work to implement this major change to our business processes. We understand there will be challenges during the transition. We appreciate your patience and consideration as we commence this journey together. eProcurement will help streamline our business processes, yield greater efficiencies and enable more cost-effective strategies.

Today marks a major milestone for business at UT Dallas as we begin the transition to the new Galaxy portal, PeopleSoft HR/Finance systems and SciQuest eProcurement. Over the next weeks and months, we will roll out additional parts of the system. Described below are a few changes for you to note regarding the transition to date.
Galaxy (http://galaxy.utdallas.edu) is at the same address. It offers you access to online systems that are tailored to serve you in your role as a member of the University community. When you log into Galaxy, the screen you see displays the links you need based on your role at UT Dallas-faculty, student, staff or a combination of those. These links will take you to online tools associated with the work you do at the University.
The new configuration includes access to: Orion, Finance, and Human Resource self service (including functionality associated with accessing paystubs for February 22nd payroll processed on PeopleSoft, contact information, and benefits). While many of our business processes are in transition from being paper-based to electronic, you can determine which among them are now electronic by looking at the Forms page (http://www.utdallas.edu/forms). Those listed on the Forms page are linked from within the new Galaxy portal.
Watch this website for progress reports, training information, schedules describing new functionality as it becomes available, a list of frequently asked questions, directions on how to register for training, and contact information for people who can answer questions not addressed elsewhere. The HelpDesk (assist@utdallas.edu, ext: 2911) is also prepared to connect you to a person who can help if you encounter a problem.
Please take a few moments to familiarize yourself with the new Galaxy portal. We highly recommend that you sign up for just-in-time training on basics. Our instructors are focused on training "super-users" across campus to be sure each unit has what they need to conduct business and training for the first groups moving to online time-sheet entry. We welcome your feedback and/or questions.
We are here to help you. We request your understanding, patience and cooperation as we make this major transition for UT Dallas.
— Calvin D. Jamison, VP of the Office of Administration
— Jim Gary, VP and Chief Information Officer
The Gemini team recognizes that a major factor in the launch of a new system is user training. With the approaching launch of these systems, the Gemini Training Team is in high gear. Letitia Andrews and Patricia Roffe have spent the past few months creating a variety of instructional offerings to prepare users for our February 21 launch date.
Recent inquiries from users all over campus reflect a keen interest in the new systems.

I recently sent an email to one of the Gemini team members with a question; I expected a long wait for a response. To my surprise, I received a response within five minutes! Thank you for not only working hard to set us up for success, but for remembering that there is more to success than quality technology. — Lauren Clark, Development Associate, Office of Development and Alumni Relations
