Geosciences Research Professor Dr. Finkelman invited to be a keynote speaker at Environmin 2007 Conference, in South Africa
Dr. Robert Finkelman has been invited to be a Keynote speaker at the ENVIROMIN 2007 conference in South Africa. The conference focuses on environmental and health issues concerned with mining and refining of ores and will be held 23-25 July, 2007 in the Pilanesberg Reserve. Dr. Finkelman is a research professor in the Department of Geosciences at UT Dallas. His research interests focus on understanding the physical, chemical, and mineralogical properties of coal and how these properties affect the coal's technological performance, economic byproduct potential, and environmental and health impacts. He also specializes in understanding the impacts of geologic materials and processes on animal and human health (Medical Geology). Last semester he taught an undergraduate class on Medical Geology and this Fall he will teach a class on Coal.
