The University of Texas at Dallas has awarded more than 77,700 degrees since joining the University of Texas System in 1969.
More than 1,800 students were scheduled to receive diplomas in December 2011, forming UT Dallas’ largest fall graduation cohort ever.
Students enter UT Dallas with some of the highest average SAT scores of any public university in Texas.
The University’s fall 2011 student population was made up of 63 percent undergraduates and 37 percent graduate students.
The fall 2011 freshman class included the largest number of National Merit Scholars (52) ever in a single class. They join 90 continuing National Merit winners, for a total of 142 on campus.
UT Dallas holds commencement exercises in the spring and fall, and students are addressed by fellow graduating scholars who compete for the honor.
The largest of UT Dallas’ seven schools, the Naveen Jindal School of Management, confers the most degrees, followed by the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science.
UT Dallas confers the highest proportion of science, technology, engineering, math and business degrees of any Texas public, doctoral-granting institution.
Among those expected to receive degrees in fall 2011 are more than 900 graduate students and PhD candidates and more than 900 undergraduates.

Nearly 40 percent of incoming freshmen graduated in the top 10 percent of their high school classes, and almost 75 percent were from the top 25 percent.
