Hometown News: Share Your Stories, Photos
UT Dallas’ Office of Media Relations wants to help you disseminate hometown news releases about your achievements.
Hometown news releases are brief summaries — typically three or four paragraphs in length — about awards and accomplishments, which are sent directly to hometown newspapers. Although we cannot guarantee that the information you submit will be picked up by media, we know that there is great interest in this type of news on the part of local community newspapers.
If you have a story to share, the Office of Media Relations is happy to work with you to spread the word about your achievements.
Hometown news releases are easy to write — simply use the Hometown News Release Form to submit your information. When submitting news, please keep in mind the following guidelines:
- Hometown releases are for student honors such as awards, fellowships, scholarships ($1,000 and above) and related accomplishments.
- Hometown news releases ideally should be submitted and distributed within one month of your receipt of the award or honor.
- Students, parents or other relatives are welcomed to submit hometown news release requests.
Another way to submit information is via News Center, a campus-wide news service, which is created and distributed by the Office of Media Relations.
