Service Recognition Program - Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the time frame for the years of service shown on the form?
A. Years of service are calculated as of 8/31/2008.

2. What years are honored during the annual service awards ceremony?
A. Honorees include those with 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45 years of service to UTD.

3. When is the Service Award ceremony?
A. The Service Award ceremony will be Fall 2008. The exact date will be determined and communicated to the University at a later time.

4. Does my prior state service count toward the UTD service awards program?
A. Prior service at other UT schools and Texas agencies does not count toward the UTD service award program.  Nor does school district service; this service is not State employment.

5. Does my student employment count toward the UTD service awards program?
A. Student service and temporary employment (less than 50% and/or less than 4.5 months) does not count toward the UTD service award program.

6. Does my LOA status now or in the past affect my years of service?
A. Yes, time on an unpaid leave of absence does not count toward UTD service awards.

7.  If I am receiving a personalized award can I have my nickname on the award?
A. Yes, you may have your nickname on your award. Be sure to give us your nickname in the “Comments” section of the verification form, otherwise your name will appear as printed on the email form.

8. What do I do if my name is not correct in the system?
A. If your name is incorrect, send a copy of your current Social Security card and a personal data form to Human Resources Management, AD10. The name we have on file must match the name on your Social Security card.
