Selecting Your Benefits
Employees of The University of Texas at Dallas enjoy a comprehensive choice of insurance plans including medical, dental, vision, life, accident, short term disability, long term disability, long term care insurance and a flexible spending plan. Eligibility for benefit programs is based on your appointment. In addition to mandatory participation in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) or the Optional Retirement Program (ORP), you can enroll in the Tax-Sheltered Annuity Program (UTSaver TSA) or the Deferred Compensation Plan (UTSaver DCP). You are eligible for retirement benefits with TRS or in the ORP on your first day of employment. You may enroll in the UTSaver TSA or UTSaver DCP at any time.
As a new or newly eligible employee, you will attend an orientation. During orientation, you receive information on our insurance and retirement programs. You must complete your insurance election within 31 days of your date of eligibility. After attending orientation, set up a benefit appointment using the e-mail address below. Eligibility for dependents that you wish to enroll in UT Benefits must be established by providing appropriate supporting documentation. When requesting to add a dependent to your plan, you should be prepared to provide copies of relevant documents which may include items such as your marriage certificate, your child(ren)’s birth certificate(s), completed adoption paperwork, or other legal documents.

We strive to respond to calls and e-mails within one business day throughout most of the year. During our peak periods however, it may take two business days for us to respond. Peak periods include the start and end of each semester and the month of July.
