Receivables and Collections Coordinator

Summary:
Function & Scope: To provide specialized skills in the coordination of departmental billing and collection activities. Work with outside account management agencies performing audit and collection services. Coordinates all collection activities and prepares, analyzes and reconciles weekly, monthly and annual reports on collection activity.
Essential Functions:
Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Input all client account receivables data into computer.
- Prepare daily cash receipts for submittal to accounting.
- Coordinate all collection activities on all receivables.
- Maintain records of all collection activities.
- Prepare documents necessary to issue refunds to individuals whose accounts are overpaid.
Marginal Functions:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Special tasks assigned by manager.

Received:Broad instructions related to business policies and procedures. Specific, detailed instruction for specialized or extremely complex unique task

Education:
Required: High school graduation or its equivalent, supplemented by courses in bookkeeping or accounting.

Experience:
Required: Three years experience in patient billing operations. Must have a good understanding of the entire patient billing system.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
This position requires good communication skills, both in person and on the telephone and the ability to tactfully handle situations involving individuals who are embarrassed or in a hostile mood.
Special Job Requirements (such as hours, accuracy, special equipment and/or working conditions):
Use of computer and calculator. Demonstrated data entry skills.
Extreme accuracy necessary in all phases of duties.
Other:
If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.

Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents, in lieu of stated minimums, require the prior written approval of the Assistant Vice President, Human Resources Management.
