Assistant Director Greek Life Programs

Summary:

Function & Scope: Responsibility for Greek council advisement, development, programming, & education; strategic planning & program goal setting; assessment & program evaluation; hiring, training & supervision of part-time staff; budget forecasting as related to program goals; fiscal monitoring & reporting; risk management for all program events; compliance with University rules & policies; represent University to national fraternal organizations, at special events & on committees.

Essential Functions:

Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Program advisement, development, & assessment for university fraternal organizations.
  • Serve as liaison to national fraternal organizations; represent University's interests and cultivate professional relationships.
  • Development of university housing options for affiliated Greek students.
  • Develop & implement annual Senior Week activities.
  • Selection, hiring, training & supervision of part-time staff.
  • Budget management, forecasting & monitoring.
  • Strategic planning for student life programs as related to university goals.
  • Develop, implement, execute & attend student life events.

Marginal Functions:

  • Serve on campus-wide event planning committees.
  • Organize annual Homecoming parade.
  • Attend student events serving as Responsible University Officia.
  • Represent associate dean as needed.

Supervision:

Received: General Supervision: Incumbent develops own ways to effectively perform a variety of duties or performs complex duties within established policy guidelines; responsible for a defined set of assignments, expected to determine and create procedures to set priorities and meet goals.

Given: Responsible for selection, hiring, training and supervision of part-time staff.

Education:

Required: Bachelor's degree required.

Preferred: Master's degree in student personnel administration or related field.

Experience:

Required: 1-3 yrs experience advising fraternal organizations or student activities.

Preferred: 3 - 5 years of professional experience in Greek Life or student affairs. Experience and affiliation with Inter-Fraternity Council (IFC) organization strongly desirable; proven IFC development and advising experience.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of Greek organizations and council systems; University experience; strong verbal & written abilities; presentation speaking abilities; event planning & management skills.

If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.

Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification may render the position security sensitive; thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.

Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents, in lieu of stated minimums, require the prior written approval of the Assistant Vice President, Human Resources Management.
