Summary:
Function & Scope:
Advises prospective and transfer students on immigration regulations and procedures required for applying for F1/J1 student status; advises on UT Dallas and ISSO (International Student Services Office) processes required to support success at UT Dallas.
Essential Functions:
Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:

Advises new and current international students, staff and visitors on UT Dallas and ISSO resources and established processes required to support success at UT Dallas. Includes in person and phone interactions at the front desk.

Evaluates eligibility for F1 immigration status of international students requesting a UT Dallas I-20 form and issues Department of Homeland Security I-20 forms for initial and transfer F-1 students.

Advises prospective and transfer students on immigration regulations and procedures required for applying for F1/J1 student status. Includes phone, email and in person interactions.

Provides information on established UT Dallas and ISSO processes that support international student enrollment to UT Dallas staff, faculty and prospective students.

Provides informational workshops for students, faculty and staff on established ISSO processes regarding the initial I-20 form for transfer and overseas students. Works with supervisor to maintain student records and assists with projects related to ISSO mission. Serves on ISSO Prospective Student Team to identify and execute processes improvements related to prospective students and front desk practices.

Received: General Supervision: Incumbent develops own ways to effectively perform a variety of duties or performs complex duties within established policy guidelines; responsible for a defined set of assignments, expected to determine and create procedures to set priorities and meet goals.

Education:
Required: Bachelor's degree.

Experience:
Required: 2-3 years of office experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to meet USCIS requirements for designation as a Designated School Official. Literate in the use of MS Word, Excel and Outlook applications. Able to provide excellent customer service in person, phone and email and through the efficient use of information on established internal processes and general knowledge of the institution resources. Able to manage effectively high volume of traffic and workload, while maintaining quality of product and service to customers. Able to work individually and as a part of a team, effectively making use of individual and team resources to complete projects and assignments within deadlines. Able to work with a team to complete individual and team daily workload within established time frames.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.

Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents, in lieu of stated minimums, require the prior written approval of the Assistant Vice President, Human Resources Management.
