Summary:

Function & Scope:

To provide UTD students with by-appointment and walk-in based tutoring in one or more specific academic disciplines. Responsible for maintaining clear, secure and thorough records of students tutored. Create and sustain a positive learning atmosphere.

Essential Functions:

Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provides students with by-appointment and walk-in based tutoring in one or more specific academic disciplines.
  • Maintains clear, secure and thorough records of students tutored, as required by department guidelines.
  • Creates and sustains a positive learning atmosphere for students.
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of resource materials, technology, and /or physical spaces needed to demonstrate learning objectives within the tutoring area.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development and training as determined by department guidelines.
  • May participate in recruitment, promotional, proctoring or other department activities as assigned.

Marginal Functions:

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Create a nurturing work atmosphere for students.

Specific- Incumbent performs standard and routine assignments independently to conclusion; unusual problems and exceptions to procedures or processes are referred to the supervisor.

Education:

Required:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in field(s) for which tutoring is offered.

Preferred:

Master’s degree or equivalent in field(s) for which tutoring is offered.

Experience:

Required: One year experience working with students in a learning capacity.

Preferred: Two or more years of the above experience.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Other:

If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.

Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification may render the position security sensitive; thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.

Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents, in lieu of stated minimums, require the prior written approval of the Assistant Vice President, Human Resources Management.
