Summary:
Function & Scope: Serves as primary résumé editor for the Career Center and assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of résumé writing and related services. Assists in résumés writing and related services, résumés and letter writing seminars and critiques; participates in mock interviews and other job search strategies and skills; maintains database records of all related activity; participates in departmental committees and assists with other career programs and duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Retrieves, reads and critiques résumés and cover letters submitted to the Career Center.
- Conducts one-on-one consultations with students and/or alumni regarding cover letters, résumés, personal statements, etc. in person, by phone and/or by email.
- Records related data in electronic database.
Marginal Functions:
Performs other duties as assigned.
- Conducts mock interview training as needed, utilizing video recording and viewing equipment.
- Serves on committees and attend staff meetings as assigned.
- Participates in the program evaluation process
- Assists with other career programs and events as assigned.
Supervision:
Received: Occasional instruction, supervision and suggestions from Supervisor.
Given: Supervision of office staff and participants in on-going projects.
Education:
Required: Bachelor’s Degree
Preferred: Master’s Degree
Experience:
Required: Two years related, successful professional experience.
Preferred: N/A

Résumé writing. Interviewing techniques. Job search tools and strategies. Career development theory. Employment processes. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong interpersonal and rapport building skills, presentation skills. Strong customer service skills. Computer, Telephone and other office machines.
Special Job Requirements (such as hours, accuracy, special equipment and/or working conditions):
Proficiency in all phases of work. Usual office working conditions. Some on-site and off site meetings and seminar places.
Other:
If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.
Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification may render the position security sensitive; thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents, in lieu of stated minimums, require the prior written approval of the Assistant Vice President, Human Resources Management.
