Summary:
Function & Scope: To provide career counseling/educational planning for students and alumni. Counsels students and alumni to assist them in making career related decisions. Helps clients to evaluate interests and abilities and determine educational goals. Facilitates career development
Essential Functions:
Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Provides career and job search related counseling with students and alumni in individual and in group settings.
- Plans, and presents seminars and workshops on career related topic.
- Evaluates and utilizes computerized guidance systems.
- Administers, scores, and interprets interest aptitude, intelligence, and personality measurement tools.
- Maintains accurate records on all counseling activities.
- Uses basic research and statistical skills.
Marginal Functions:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Prepares reports and assists in evaluation programs, testing instruments and procedures.
- Supervises Career Counseling Interns as needed.
Supervision:
Received: Direct supervision and evaluation by Director of Career Services.
Given: May provide general instructions to supporting staff.
Education:
Required: Master’s degree in counseling or a related area
Preferred Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Psychologist
Experience:
Required: Two years experience in a counseling setting.

If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.

Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents, in lieu of stated minimums, require the prior written approval of the Assistant Vice President, Human Resources Management.
