Summary:
Function & Scope: Develop, organize and direct a recreational sports program Responsible for organizing, conducting, and expanding intramural programs. Set and achieve standards of program delivery that assure the highest quality programs.
Essential Functions:
Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Develop programming to meet the needs of the campus community.
- Supervise and schedule staff in the development and management of major program areas.
- Lead classes, promote membership enrollment, and assure careful assimilation of new members into specific programs.
- Inspect and maintain equipment.
- Responsible -for the development of policies and procedures,
Marginal Functions:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- May instruct and coach specific sports areas.
Supervision:
Received: General supervision from the Director of Student Union.
Given: General supervision of all supporting staff.
Education:
Required: Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
Preferred Master’s degree in physical education, recreation, or related discipline.
Experience:
Required: Experience in developing and operating a fitness program; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred: Two years of experience in administration, supervision, or
Instruction in a college level recreational and/or intramural sports program.
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Certification in CPR and First Aid. Ability to communicate with students, faculty, and staff in a university community
Special Job Requirements (such as hours, accuracy, special equipment and/or working conditions):
General office work and athletic facility supervision. Hours will vary but may include late afternoon, evening, and weekend duties.
Other:
If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.
Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification may render the position security sensitive; thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents, in lieu of stated minimums, require the prior written approval of the Assistant Vice President, Human Resources Management.
