Summary:
Function & Scope: To assist the coordinator of recreational sports in the organization, supervision, and operation of recreational sports activities. Responsible for coordinating the work of recreational employees and for assisting in the planning and the directing of sports activities.
Essential Functions:
Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Organize intramural contests, recreational programming, and tournament organization.
- Responsible for the publication of rules and regulations regarding participation in intramurals and other recreational sports.
- Responsible for equipment maintenance
Marginal Functions:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Instruct in specific activities in the program.
Supervision:
Received: Periodic general review from the Coordinator of Recreational Sports.
Given: Direct supervision of supporting staff in intramural and recreational program.
Education:
Required: Master’s degree in physical education.
Preferred N/A
Experience:
Required: One year of experience in the coordination of college level recreational sports programs or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred: N/A
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be able to relate to and communicate with students, faculty, and staff in a university community.
Special Job Requirements (such as hours, accuracy, special equipment and/or working conditions):
General office and normal recreational work areas. Hours will vary and will include late afternoon, evening, and weekend duties.
Other:
If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.
Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification may render the position security sensitive; thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents, in lieu of stated minimums, require the prior written approval of the Assistant Vice President, Human Resources Management.
