Assistant Director, Recreational Sports

Summary:
Function & Scope: Will be responsible for the Intramural Sports program including program development and implementation, student training and evaluation. This position will also oversee the facility scheduling of the PHIN classes, University events and non-university events. Customers invoices will be generated and revenues will be reconciled according to the client invoice.
Essential Functions:
Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Intramural Sports-event scheduling/programming, on site supervision, hiring/training officials, recruitment, program evaluation, and day to day operations.
- Facility Reservations- weekly field schedules, client meetings, confirmation letters, invoices, schedules and calendar upkeep.
- Extramural Sports- outside tournaments, trainings & presentations. Committees & Work Teams-university committees, professional development committees and various work teams.
Marginal Functions:
- Serve on campus-wide event planning committees.
- Organize annual Homecoming parade.
- Attend student events serving as Responsible University Official.
- Represent associate dean as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Received: General Supervision: Incumbent develops own ways to effectively perform a variety of duties or performs complex duties within established policy guidelines; responsible for a defined set of assignments, expected to determine and create procedures to set priorities and meet goals.
Given: Responsible for selection, hiring, training and supervision of part-time staff.
Education:
Required: Bachelor's degree in related field

Experience:
Required: 3+ yrs relevant professional exp administering a comprehensive club sports program. Ability to plan and promote special events. Able to set-up basic web design and basic graphic design. Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.

If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.

Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
