Summary:
Function & Scope: To perform responsible research and administrative duties. Responsible for the complete planning and scheduling of research projects and assignment of projects to staff members.
Essential Functions:
Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Assists in planning of research projects; supervises and checks the progress of research work assigned to him/her from commencement through distribution of published results.
- Assists in supervision and administration of pre-service and in-service training programs conducted by the organization.
- Assists in the inquiry and consulting services provided by the organization for interested groups on and off the campus relating to the kind of research performed.
- Assist in the conduct of original research of an advanced nature in a specialized field in collaboration with other staff members or other research groups; writes reports on the results of research findings.
Marginal Functions:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Makes public appearances and addresses professional or civic organizations and other interested groups.
- May supervise the business and personnel operations of particular research area.
Supervision:
Received: General from faculty member or administrative officer.
Given: General over Social Science/Humanities subordinates.
Education:
Required: PhD with major course work in the field of assignment.
Preferred: N/A
Experience:
Required: Two years of administrative or research experience.
Preferred: N/A
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
This position differs from the position of Social Science/Humanities Research Associate IV in the higher level of responsibility, the greater complexity or broader scope of the research problems, and the more extensive academic training and research experience needed for successful administration fo the research projects.
Special Job Requirements (such as hours, accuracy, special equipment and/or working conditions):
Proficiency in all phases of the duties performed. Some travel for interviews. Excellent in office working conditions.
Other:
If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.

Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
