Social Science/Humanities Research Associate IV

Summary:

Function & Scope: To perform responsible research and administer research projects, training programs, and the business operation of the research. Responsible for the preliminary planning and scheduling of research projects and assignment of projects to staff members.

Essential Functions:

Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assists in planning of research projects to be undertaken and supervises, checks, and advises on progress of research work assigned to him/her from commencement through distribution of published results.
  • Assists in supervision of organization’s research facilities.
  • Assists in pre-service and in-service training program conducted by the organization.
  • Participates in consulting services provided by the organization from interest groups on an off the campus.
  • May be responsible for certain administrative functions.

Marginal Functions:

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Participates in research of an advanced caliber.

Supervision:

Received: General from faculty member, administrative officer, or senior Social Science/Humanities Research Associates.

Given: General over Social Science /Humanities subordinates.

Education:

Required: PhD degree with major course work in the field of assignment.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent office working conditions. Some travel for interviews. Proficiency in all phases of the duties required.

If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.

Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents, in lieu of stated minimums, require the prior written approval of the Assistant Vice President, Human Resources Management.
