Summary:
Function & Scope: To perform specialized research, and prepare materials for publication. Responsible for gathering and interpreting data and preparing materials for publication in the fields of social science and humanities.
Essential Functions:
Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Conducts research in collaboration with associates; establishes sources and procures data and materials from library research; analyzes data and prepares reports; collects objects; prepares articles and speeches; edits articles checking contents, form style, and bibliographical citations.
- Devises questionnaires; establishes sources of data; participates in planning and direction of work of recording and interpreting data.
Marginal Functions:
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervision:
Received: General from faculty member, administrative officer, or senior Social Science/Humanities Research Associate.
Given: General over Social Science/Humanities subordinates.
Education:
Required: Master’s degree with major course work in the field of assignment.

Special Job Requirements (such as hours, accuracy, special equipment and/or working conditions):
Proficiency in all phases of the duties performed. Excellent in office working conditions, some travel for interviewing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with junior associate staff members, supervisors, and the public.
Other:
If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.

Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
