Summary:
Function & Scope: To perform limited and semi-skilled work in the operation, construction, and maintenance of laboratory or other specialized equipment. Responsible for performing routine manual operations in a variety of technical fields including electrical, mechanical, electronics, theater, radio/television, and general mechanics fields.
Essential Functions:
Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Operates mechanical, electrical, electronic, and chemical test equipment.
- Records results; plots curves.
- Does moderately skilled drafting not involving design.
- Constructs radio and other electrical equipment working from detailed plans and diagrams.
- Cleans meters and instruments.
Marginal Functions:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Performs minor maintenance and repair on equipment as needed.
Supervision:
Received: Close supervision on most work projects.
Given: None.
Education:
Required: High school graduate.
Preferred: N/A
Experience:
Required: Six months of experience.
Preferred: N/A
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Skill in the use of hand and bench tools, no equipment.
Special Job Requirements (such as hours, accuracy, special equipment and/or working conditions):
Proficiency in all phases of the duties performed. Good working conditions. In some departments, or service scientific hazards may exist.
Other:
If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.

Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents, in lieu of stated minimums, require the prior written approval of the Assistant Vice President, Human Resources Management.
