Summary:

Function & Scope: To perform highly skilled technical support tasks on semiconductor processing equipment in a clean room environment. Responsible for repair and maintenance of processing equipment, tool installations, understanding infrastructure requirements, tool/process qualification, maintaining clean room environment, interface with engineers and clean room users, vendor interface, trouble shooting, and parts requisition.

Essential Functions:

Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Hands-on repair and maintenance of tools, (requires lifting up to 35 Ibs and moving equipment / tools).
  • Specify infrastructure requirements for tool installation Train users on proper tool operation techniques Prepare work orders for infrastructure support Develop and execute PM schedules Support tool and infrastructure safety requirements.
  • Develop operating procedures for processing tools.
  • Vendor interface for repairs and maintenance guidelines.
  • Maintain clean room environment.
  • Develop modifications for improvement of existing equipment.
  • Interface with research scientists, research engineers, and faculty members.
  • Hands-on infrastructure support.
  • Chemical handling and waste disposal Gas cylinder handling and LiqN2

Supervision:

Received: General Supervision: Incumbent develops own ways to effectively perform a variety of duties or performs complex duties within established policy guidelines; responsible for a defined set of assignments, expected to determine and create procedures to set priorities and meet goals.

Education:

Required: High School graduate or GED, supplemented by technical training related to semiconductor processing equipment college-level courses in Physics, Electrical Engineering and related disciplines, or completion of Associate Degree in Electronics.

Preferred: N/A

Experience:

Required: Minimum ten years hands-on experience in the repair and maintenance of sophisticated semiconductor processing equipment and associated infrastructure support.

Preferred: More than ten years of the above experience with expertise on thermal, plasma, metallization, wet chemistry, and lithography tools.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Working knowledge of Equipment: Diffusion furnaces, LPCVD, PECVD, sputter, evaporation, spinners, developers, hoods, metrology, plasma, vacuum pumps, turbo, and cryo.

Special Job Requirements (such as hours, accuracy, special equipment and/or working conditions):

Clean room and support chases. Work requires 80% of one's time in the clean room environment in
clean room attire.

Other:

If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.

Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification may render the position security sensitive; thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.

Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
