Summary:
Function & Scope: Will provide intermediate level specialized skills in the design, construction, maintenance & repair of scientific, electronic, computer or mechanical equipment.
Essential Functions:
Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Will perform training on, calibrate, maintain & operate a variety of analytical & related laboratory equipment.
- Serve as a presence in the laboratory to insure that proper experimental techniques are being used & that the policies & procedures of the laboratory are being followed.
- Work in conjunction with the facility manager to coordinate the set-up, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment, instrumentation and facilities.
- Ensures compliance with environmental and safety regulations and standards.
- Collects and analyzes data for faculty, staff and students.
- Performs equipment training to new users and works in conjunction with the facility manager to establish a rigorous training program for each piece of equipment.
- Maintain equipment permissions and keep active user training files.
- Maintains an inventory of spare parts and supplies needed for servicing and repairing lab equipment.

Education:
Required: Bachelor's degree.
Preferred: Master's degree in related field.
Experience:
Required: 1 yr related exp, or an equivalent combination of education & exp . Experience operating spectrometers, microscopes and specialized equipment.

If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.

Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
