NSM Facility Manager

Summary:

Overall NSM liaison/coordinator between the Dean, NSM faculty/staff, physical plant, safety and upper administration on construction projects, ongoing building facility needs and recommendations on space allocation. Key emergency contact person for NSM concerning building internal and external structural intrusions. Assist new faculty with lab set-ups. Heavily involved with the set-up and renovations of classrooms such as in Physics.

Essential Functions:

Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervise lab set-up. Submit orders for routine maintenance needs, organize faculty/staff & lab moves, and set-up/schedule renovations. Scheduling and meeting with contractors and maintenance personnel. Read, translate and approve construction drawings.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervision:

Received: General supervision from faculty and staff.

Given: Direct supervision to staff and student employees.

Education:

Required: High school diploma or equivalent; trade school certification for "Associate Builders & Contractors."

Preferred: N/A

Experience:

Required: A minimum of 5 years of HVAC service construction management, and 5 years at UTD. Electrician's journeyman license. Good communication and organization skills.

If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.

Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification may render the position security sensitive; thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.

Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
