Summary:
Function & Scope: Provide intermediate technical and drafting skills in a field where both manual and computer-aided drafting and/or design (CADD) are performed. Responsible for compiling and organizing engineering and drafting data into usable form and assisting in establishing CADD criteria, procedures and standards.
Essential Functions:
Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Typical functions of the job include but are not limited to: preparing various types of drawings using CADD equipment or manual tools.
- Coordinates drafting work as assigned.
- Checks finished work for quality and accuracy.
- Prepares computation and field notes.
- Prepares preliminary and final plans from field notes, design data and instructions.
- Recommends changes in design.
- Maintains the quality, accuracy and security of the computer based graphical data.
Marginal Functions:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervision:
Received: General instruction from the Associate Director as to what is desired, but ideally work is performed independently with minimal supervision.
Given: May by assigned supervisory duties by Associate Director.
Education:
Required: High school graduation or GED, supplemented by courses in computer-aided drafting, mechanical drafting and/or basic engineering mathematics.
Preferred: N/A
Experience:
Required: Zero to 4 years of experience performing a combination of manual and CADD work.
Preferred: N/A
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Use of standard computer equipment and CADD software, Ozalid machine, lettering equipment, vari-typer, plotters, scanners and other types of drafting equipment. Use of standard manual equipment used in drafting work. Extreme accuracy required in the execution of engineering design circuit design, component structure and other types of drawings.

If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.

Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents, in lieu of stated minimums, require the prior written approval of the Assistant Vice President, Human Resources Management.
