Maintenance Foreman

Summary:

Function & Scope: To provide supervision of a crew in the maintenance, repair, and service to buildings and utilities. Responsible for planning, scheduling and implementing assigned jobs for the effective care of buildings and utilities.

Essential Functions:

Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Plans, lay-out, assigns, and supervises work of maintenance crews; supervises the safekeeping of buildings and other property.
  • Maintains records of labor and, materiel costs and inventories, and requisitions material.

Marginal Functions:

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Submits reports on status and costs of maintenance projects, and interview potential employees

Supervision:

Received: General supervision from Maintenance Supervisor, or superintendent.

Given: Supervision over subordinates.

Education:

Required: High School Graduation.

Preferred: N/A

Experience:

Required: Five years of skilled/journeyman-level experience in building and utilities maintenance

Preferred: N/A

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of the use of equipment of the building and mechanical trades. Accuracy in the use of tools and equipment, thoroughness in the application of safety principles

If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.

Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification may render the position security sensitive; thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.

Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
