Building Automation Systems Specialist

Summary:

Function & Scope: Will provide journey level technical analysis work for Building Automation Systems.

Essential Functions:

Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Will monitor and ensure the integrity of the Building Automation Systems.
  • Respond to unusual or alarm condition.
  • Ensure the comfort and safety of the University environment.
  • Analyze current and historic date to determine needs for programming changes on building automation systems.
  • Implement program changes and review resulting operations for compliance with design parameters.
  • Coordinate applications with other campus intra-net (LAN) systems.
  • Prioritize and delegate work assignments to support staff; maintain adequate inventory of equipment to ensure minimum disruption of services to campus systems.
  • Develop control algorithms based on instructions or operating sequences.
  • Read and interpret drawings and technical manuals.
  • Design and maintain or troubleshoot networked based building automation systems.
  • Integrate multi-vendor systems to provide seamless operations.
  • Review design and installation, coordinate commissioning and provide training on new and existing Building Automation Systems.

Received: Specific Supervision- Incumbent performs standard and routine assignments independently to conclusion; unusual problems and exceptions to procedures or processes are referred to the supervisor.

Education:

Required: High school graduation or GED.

Preferred: N/A

Experience:

Required: 5 10 years of experience in the installation, repair, maintenance and operation of HVAC building automation controls, refrigeration, plumbing control or related systems; or equivalent combination of education and experience; knowledge of personal computer and standard office equipment; valid driver’s license.

Knowledge of personal computer and standard office equipment; valid driver’s license.

Special Job Requirements (such as hours, accuracy, special equipment and/or working conditions):

Extreme accuracy in all phases of work. lift up to 50 pounds.

Other:

If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.

Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification may render the position security sensitive; thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.

Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
