Summary:
Function & Scope: Responsible for the daily operations of the Energy Management Systems. The EMS is composed of a collection of automated controllers which perform 29 thousand operations per second.
Essential Functions:
Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Function as senior technical on Energy Management System.
- Work with and train other technical employees.
- Utilize the EM system to monitor problems and maintain the campus systems.
- Maintain the thermal utilities and HVAC systems which require extensive repair and maintenance.
- Instruct other technician on the intricacies of the equipment functions and control requirements.
- Prepare records and written instructions.
Marginal Functions:
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervision:
Received: General Supervision - Incumbent develops own ways to effectively perform a variety of duties or performs complex duties within established policy guidelines; responsible for a defined set of assignments, expected to determine and create procedures to set priorities and meet goals.
Given: No direct supervision. Works with and trains other technical employees on the EM system.
Education:
Required: High school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by approved courses in electronics.
Experience:
Required: Minimum of eight years experience and certification in building DDC Energy Management systems (Seimens.)
Preferred: Fifteen years experience and certification in building DDC Energy Management (Seimens) systems. Twenty years experience maintaining and troubleshooting building control-related circuits and computer equipment. Ten years of experience in pneumatic control system, and fifteen years in a mechanical environment.
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Minimum of eight years experience in maintaining and troubleshooting building control-related circuits and computer equipment, and electronic circuits and equipment. Experience in pneumatic control system. Advanced programming in PPCL and computer networking skills along with eight plus years experience in a mechanical environment. Basic office skills and strong communication skills.

If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.

Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents, in lieu of stated minimums, require the prior written approval of the Assistant Vice President, Human Resources Management.
