Summary:
Function & Scope: To supervise and coordinate the activities of the Automotive Shop in the Physical Plant. Responsible for planning and coordinating skilled and semi-skilled workers performing various vehicle/equipment maintenance and repair work.
Essential Functions:
Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Coordinates the work schedule of automotive shop personnel.
- Insures ample supplies and equipment are on hand.
- Processes necessary paperwork for ordering, processing of required billing.
- Supervisory responsibilities include training of new personnel, evaluating employee performance, and interviewing applicants.
- Weekly time sheets, leaves and disciplinary actions are also the responsibility of the Foreman.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervision:
Received: General from Manager, Office Machines and Transportation Services.
Given: Directs the work of Automotive Mechanics.
Education:
Required: High school graduation.
Preferred: N/A
Experience:
Required: Seven years of experience in automotive repair, including one year in a supervisory capacity.
Preferred: N/A
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficiency required in all automotive shop tools and gauges. Ability to properly diagnose automotive malfunction and conduct or recommend the most appropriate remedy.
Special Job Requirements (such as hours, accuracy, special equipment and/or working conditions):
Usual automotive shop conditions located in the landscape and transportation garage.
Other:
If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.

Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents, in lieu of stated minimums, require the prior written approval of the Assistant Vice President, Human Resources Management.
