Locksmith Supervisor

Summary:

Function & Scope: Will provide supervisory and journeyman-level skills for lock and key services involving the installation, repair and maintenance of locks, emergency entry, combination of wall and floor safes; making keys, preparation of plans and specifications for lock and key security records.

Essential Functions:

Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Will plan, schedule, and supervise the work of other locksmiths in effecting lock changes, repairing and maintaining locks, and making keys; procure and otherwise maintain adequate inventory of locksmith supplies and equipment.
  • Consult with department heads and other faculty and staff members with regard to feasibility and technical aspects of lock changes and modifications.
  • Maintain the Automatic Door Openers, adjust the hydraulic pressure, closing speed, back check and opening speed of the automatic doors.
  • Enter or oversee the entering of all key requests, releases/distribution into both Facility Focus & the Key Database.
  • Perform the key audit yearly.

Supervision:

Received: Specific Supervision- Incumbent performs standard and routine assignments independently to conclusion; unusual problems and exceptions to procedures or processes are referred to the supervisor.

Given: Supervises staff.

Education:

Required: High School diploma or equivalent.

Preferred: Certified Locksmith

Experience:

Required: 5 years experience as a journeyman locksmith and competent in all phases of locksmith work; valid Texas drivers license.

Extreme accuracy in all phases of work.

Other:

If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.

Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification may render the position security sensitive; thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.

Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
