Summary:
Function & Scope: To provide semi-skilled work in the performance of a variety o-f maintenance and repair tasks in one or more craft areas, at an apprentice level. Responsible -for a wide variety o-f installation and maintenance work in several building and mechanical trade areas.
Essential Functions:
Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Replaces brushes, performs mechanical repairs on motor.
- Fits pipe; tightens belts or nuts.
- Adjusts thermostats
- Changes light bulbs
- Removes and replace defective motors and valves
- Sets and adjusts door closers
- Performs carpentry work, tapes and bed, and paints.
Marginal Functions:
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervision:
Received: Detailed instructions from the journeyman on assignment of tasks. Work is inspected upon completion

Required: One year of experience in performing semi-skilled maintenance.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to use the tools of the trade in which the work is to be performed.
Special Job Requirements (such as hours, accuracy, special equipment and/or working conditions):
Proficiency in all phases of work performed. Working conditions are considered acceptable, but occasionally involves exposure to one or more disagreeable elements such, as dust, dirt, and the need to work in confined spaces. Alertness and careful attention is required to avoid injury to self and others.

If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.

Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
