Summary:
Function & Scope: Will supervise the installation, operation and maintenance of utility equipment. Responsible for planning & inspecting, and for planning & assigning Utility Station Operators installation mechanics. Assigns work schedules to Utilities Operators; initiates work procedures; inspects mechanical & electrical utilities equipment & initiates action for maintenance & repairs; coordinates, monitors, & inspects utilities operations with Central Energy Plan Supt; continuously reviews all systems to improve efficiency for energy conservation; inspects mechanical & electrical systems while under construction in new buildings to ensure efficient operation after start-up. Instructs & trains Utilities Operators in new techniques & operation of new equipment; assists in annual budget preparation; participates in and supervises unusual or hazardous work assignments.
Essential Functions:
Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Supervise all functions within Energy Management system.
- Work with & train other technical employees.
- Utilize the EMS system to monitor problems & maintain the campus system.
- Maintain the thermal utilities & HVAC systems which require extensive repairs & maintenance.
- Instruct other technicians on the intricacies of the equipment function and control requirement.
- Prepare records & written instructions.
- Schedule & check work assignments.
- Perform office & building inventory of parts & supplies.
- Manages preventive maintenance program.
- Expected to know and seek knowledge of Siemen's building system
Marginal Functions:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Stage planning and layout of new buildings.
- Knowledge of latest technology in mechanical equipment.

Received: General Supervision: Incumbent develops own ways to effectively perform a variety of duties or performs complex duties within established policy guidelines; responsible for a defined set of assignments, expected to determine and create procedures to set priorities and meet goals.
Given: Supervises subordinates.
Education:
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Associate degree or mechanical engineering degree.
Experience:
Required: 5 years experience in the operation and maintenance of steam generating, power generating, refrigeration, and/or data acquisition equipment, including a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory capacity.

If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.

Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
